Q-cam Counter 3D was specially developed to count people in a defined area and to analyse how long they stay. Based on stereoscopic camera technology (reconstruction of a three-dimensional image), the sensor makes it possible to:

» Recognise people thanks to height profiles
» Create movement profiles without identifying people

This achieves an accuracy of up to 99%. Illumination or special environmental variables (sunlight, object colours, etc.) have no influence on the results, nor do strong frequencies when people are stationary or moving quickly.

Possible applications
The Q-Cam Counter 3D sensor works according to the person tracking principle (without identification) in order to determine the following results:
TRAFFIC COUNTING

... with high accuracy for processing in statistics and safety applications.
PEOPLE TRACKING

... in defined areas such as queues or to determine the number of customers in the store.
MOTION HEATMAP

... to determine high- and low-frequency areas.
Image analysis
The evaluation of a 3-dimensional image enables:
Height management: minimum, medium and maximum (adult-child distinction)
No influence by light or colour fluctuations (sunshine incidence)
HDR processing: better management of strong contrasts
The camera is also sensitive to infrared, which enables the use of an IR headlight in poor lighting conditions
Installation
Attached to or in the ceiling above the entrance area. Several Q-cam 3D counters can also be coupled if there are several entrances and exits. The detection area is then individually defined by software.
